Actor Priyanka Chopra reacted to the ongoing war in Ukraine which has already caused massive destruction and loss of life due to the Russian invasion. Chopra called the attacks terrifying and on behalf of Unicef, she asked people to contribute to help the people of Ukraine.
In a video shared by Chopra, many Ukrainian nationals can be seen bunking in underground subway stations to stay safe. After 8 years of conflict, Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24. In a post, Chopra wrote, "The situation unfolding in Ukraine is terrifying. Innocent people living in fear for their lives and the lives of their loved ones, while trying to navigate the uncertainty of the immediate future. It’s difficult to comprehend how in the modern world this could escalate to such a catastrophic point, but this is a consequential moment that will reverberate around the world."

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin made the announcement in a sudden television address and declared war on Ukraine. As per reports, over 1,00,000 people have fled Ukraine as the explosions and gunfire started in the capital city Kyiv and other major cities.

Many public figures took to their social media handles and condemned the war. Actor Sonu Sood urged the Indian Embassy in Ukraine to help with the evacuation of the India nationals. Soo tweeted, "There are 18000 Indian students and many families who are struck in Ukraine, I am sure Government must be trying their best to get them back. I urge Indian Embassy to find an alternate route for their evacuation. Praying for their safety. #IndiansInUkraine."
Expressing anger over the war, Tillotama Shome wrote, "I worry incessantly for my mother who is battling cancer in the midst of covid. But when I think of the families and cancer patients in the middle of war, my brain just ceases to comprehend. Nothing absolutely nothing is uglier than war. Mother's don't give life for war."
