Priyanka Chopra has been named as the ambassador of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). This year TIFF will launch a digital platform for screenings, a report by the Firstpost said. Chopra and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap are among the 50 filmmakers and actors invited to grace the 45th edition of the event. Festival goers can expect numerous talks and special events hosted on the exclusive digital platform, the organizers stated.
The festival will start on September 10 and will go on till 19 2020. Maintaining the current trend, TIFF organizers have opted for digital and socially-distanced screenings, and virtual red carpets experience - for the first time in the fest’s 44-year-old history.
Calling it “tailored to fit the moment," Joana Vicente, executive director and co-head, TIFF, said in a statement, “We could never have anticipated the global seismic changes we would be facing in 2020. We tapped into the original spirit of the Festival from when it began in 1976 as our guiding light. The distilled edition of TIFF 2020 reflects a deep love of film, passion for our loyal audiences, commitment to the industry, and a whole lot of heart.”
