The actress also shared a news article alongside her congratulatory tweet which mistakenly mentioned that the award was conferred by the United Nations Development Programme. However, UNDP's official Twitter handle has clarified that they are not associated with the award and it was conferred by the Department of Planning of the Government of Punjab with the support of the Sustainable Development Goals Coordination Centre.

Sonu Sood thanked Chopra Jonas for her wishes and acknowledged her as an “inspiration” in his reply. He wrote on Twitter, “ Thank u so much for your encouraging words @priyankachopra.You are an inspiration for millions.. and I am one of them. Keep motivating the world because you are our true hero. Loads of love.”
Notably, Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been honoured by the United Nations in the past for her humanitarian efforts. She received the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award from UNICEF in 2019.

Sonu Sood Awarded For Philanthropic Endeavours
Sonu Sood received the prestigious humanitarian award for his selfless philanthropic endeavours during the Coronavirus-induced lockdown period in India. The actor arranged to send lakhs of migrants back home to villages as well as helped repatriate stranded Indian students from foreign countries. Furthermore, Sood has been offering free education and medical facilities for children. He has also tried to create employment opportunities for the poor people who lost their jobs due to the pandemic.
Overall, the Punjab government chose 17 winners for its Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Action Awards. As per Times of India, Punjab chief secretary Vini Mahajan presided over the virtual awards ceremony on Tuesday. Besides Sood, Dubai-based businessman and philanthropist S P S Oberoi was also honoured for his humanitarian efforts.
Other Honourees
The Government of Punjab also honoured Gurdev Kaur Deol, president of the Global Self Help Group that helps farmers adapt to newer technologies. Iqbal Shah was conferred with the Leave No One Behind Spirit (Individual) Award for his noble efforts of serving food to the needy during the lockdown. Red Cross - Infosys PGI Sarai and Samvedna received the Economic Sustainability (NGO) Award for sheltering patients and caregivers as well as providing free ambulance services.
