Priyanka Chopra took to Instagram to expressed her delight over Kamala Harris being featured on a Vogue Cover on Monday. The actor said that it is promising that the United States of America will be inherited by such a positive example of leadership.
She reflected on the significance of the cover after the recent riots at the Capitol building in Washington DC. Her caption read, " A WOMAN! A WOMAN OF COLOR! AN INDIAN WOMAN! A BLACK WOMAN! A WOMAN WHOSE PARENTS WERE BORN OUTSIDE THE US!"

She also quoted Kamala Harris's speech when she said that little girls will now know a world where a woman is the Vice President of the US. She further added that as a citizen of India where there have been many female leaders, it is hard for her to believe that Kamala Harris is the first woman to be the Vice President of United States.
"But it surely won’t be the last!" she added.
The said Vogue cover sparked a big debate on social media as people called out Vogue magazine for lightening up Kamal Harris' complexion. Many drew the comparison between the Vogue cover and Elle magazine covers featuring Kamal Harris regarding their treatment of Harris' actual complexion. After about 12 hours of releasing the cover and facing backlash, Vogue magazine released another cover in which the Vice President-Elect was seen looking straight up, powerful and more in control than the first cover which had Harris stand against a pink curtain which gave me casual vibe. The cover is said to be featured on Vogue USA's February issue.
