See Prince Harry, Meghan Markle's Reaction To Kate Middleton's Diagnosis

Princess of Wales Kate Middleton has now come forward to address the scrutiny around her staying away from the limelight. In a heart-wrenching video, Middleton revealed that she is undergoing treatment for cancer and has completed her first round of chemotherapy. The Princess, who underwent a planned abdominal surgery in January this year, received the news of her cancer through some tests post-operation. 

Catherine, popularly known as Kate, announced the cancer-detecting news through a video message posted by Kensington Palace which has brought shockwaves to the entire world which was fixated on the speculations and gossip around her whereabouts. It has also come as a shocker as it is the second royal of the British monarch to have been diagnosed with cancer this year.

In a surprising display of unity amidst a period of estrangement, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who stepped down from their royal duties in 2020, released a statement offering their support to Catherine, Princess of Wales, following her announcement. Prince Harry and Markle, who currently reside in California, issued a brief and heartfelt statement. "We wish Kate and the family health and healing," it read. "We hope they are able to go through this privately and in peace."

The message highlights a potential thawing in relations between the Sussexes and the rest of the Royal Family considering King Charles' cancer diagnosis too. Relations became strained following Harry and Markle's decision to step back from royal duties and their subsequent tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey along with Hary's 2023 autobiography "Spare" which made many private revelations and public criticism against Royals, especially Princess of Wales William. 

Royal commentators believe this public display of support could be a significant first step towards reconciliation. "This is a moment of crisis, and it appears the Sussexes haven't forgotten the importance of family," said Beatrice Lancaster, a royal historian. A cancer diagnosis puts everything else into perspective."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Wales were seen together after many speculations of feud and frenzy between the brothers and their wives in September 2023 at the funeral of the longest-ruling monarch and their grandmother Queen Elizabeth II.
