Former UP Child Welfare Committee President Accused Of Raping Woman

Prayagraj CWC President Rape Case: An FIR has been registered by Kotwali police on Wednesday against a former president of Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Prayagraj, for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman on the pretext of helping her in a legal case.  The police have reportedly formed teams to arrest the accused man.

As per reports, the survivor's husband who hails from the Kaushambi district had taken her six-year-old daughter away after they separated. Then the woman reached the CWC and met the president. The president had assured the woman that he will bring her daughter back and would even bear the expenses of the court proceedings, the woman claimed.

The CWC president allegedly started exploiting the woman sexually and raped her on multiple occasions at different locations in George Town, Bahadurganj, Daraganj and Civil lines areas of the district. The woman then reached out to the police recently when the accused allegedly started threatening her on the phone.

Narendra Prasad, the station house officer (SHO) of Kotwali police station, started an investigation of the case and made the survivor get a medical examination done. The FIR was registered against the CWC president. According to reports, the police also raised places where the woman claimed to have been raped by the accused person. The CWC authorities and district probationary officer were asked for help in the case. Circle officer Satyendra Tiwari said that further investigation was on in this connection and teams had been constituted for the arrest of the accused.
