Gehana Vasisth Case: The case against Gehana Vasisth and the three producers of British-Indian businessman Raj Kundra's company has been transferred to the Property Cell of Mumbai Police Crime Branch, police said on Thursday.
The case against Vasisth and the producers was registered at Malvani Police Station. Gehana Vasisth, an actor by profession, is currently on bail. She was released after four months of being arrested in the pornography case in February this year.
As per the latest update in the case against Raj Kundra and his associate Ryan Trope, Kundra's wife Shilpa Shetty moved to Bombay High Court against several media outlets, according to Times of India.
During investigations, the Mumbai police crime branch reportedly discovered a hidden closet in Raj Kundra's Viaan and JL Stream office in Andheri, Mumbai. His wife, Shilpa Shetty, has not yet been given a clean chit in the case as the police said that she is likely to be summoned again for questioning. As per reports, Shetty's phone is also likely to be cloned by the crime branch.
Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) imposed a fine of three lakh rupees on Shetty and Raj Kundra as they were allegedly involved in insider trading. Read more about it here. The Mumbai police crime branch has also stated that forensic auditors will be appointed to investigate the transactions in all accounts of the people involved in the pornographic case. As per the police, Raj Kundra is the key conspirator in the case. He is accused of producing pornographic films under the banner of Kernin Production House and releasing them on a mobile application named HotShot in India.
Another individual involved in the case, Sherlyn Chopra, has been summoned by the police to give her statement in relation to the case. This happened after the Bombay High Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea.
Kundra is also likely to face money laundering and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) cases as per the police. The officials said that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) might register cases against him.
45-year-old British-Indian businessman and husband to actor Shilpa Shetty has been booked under the following sections of the IPC: Sections 420 (cheating), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays), 34 (common intention). The charges against him also include some sections of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act and the IT Act.
