Police Complaint Filed Against Actor Meera Mithun For Her Casteist Video

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader filed a police complaint against actor Meera Mithun on Saturday. The complaint was made in connection with a video released by Mithun which the VCK accused of being casteist.

In a video that surfaced on Twitter, Meera Mithun is seen asking for all the actors from the Scheduled Caste community who work in the Tamil Film industry to be thrown out.

After several retweets of the video, it was shared by VCK Chief and MP Thol Thirumavalavan on his social media handle where he asked for an arrest of Meera Mithun and the person who interviewed her in the viral video.

Apart from the VCK leader and former MP Vanni Arasu, several other organisations in Tamil Nadu have lodged police complaints seeking the arrest of the actor. Dravidar Liberation Organization District Secretary MP Mani Amuthan also filed a complaint on his behalf with the Madurai Municipal Police Commissioner Prem Anand Sinha IPS.

Actor Meera Mithun said in her statement, "I am not speaking ill about members of the SC community. But the members of the community face problems mostly because they are involved in illegal activities and crimes. No one will unnecessarily speak ill of someone without any reason."

She allegedly said, "In the film industry, SC directors and other people of the community do cheap things. It is time to chuck out all the SC directors and other people from the film industry. In one instance, a director from Paraiyar (SC) community took the first look at my movie."

Who is Meera Mithun?

• Mithun is an actor and model who majorly works in Tamil language movies. She made her debut in the movie 8 Thottakkal (2017).
• The actor is known for her controversial statements and allegations. She had accused Vijay and Rajnikanth of defaming her. Mithun had also added that she would take legal action against the two actors.
• She had also asked the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to destroy Tamil Nadu.
• The actor had also stated that she is now in Hollywood as Kollywood neglected her.
