A complaint against Kareena Kapoor Khan was filed in Beed, Maharashtra on Wednesday over the title of her upcoming book, Pregnancy Bible. As per reports, the complainants have alleged the title hurts religious sentiments.
The complaint, submitted by Alpha Omega Christian Mahasangh president Ashish Shinde at Shivaji Nagar police station, seeks action under IPC section 295 A, which relates to outraging of religious beliefs. The use of 'Bible' in the title has been objected to.
Two others, besides Kapoor, have also been named in the complaint. An FIR in the case has not been filed yet, as per PTI.
Police at Shivaji Nagar said they have asked the complainant to file a complaint in Mumbai, not Beed.
Complaint Against Kareena Kapoor: Religious Controversy Stirred Again
Kapoor, 40, announced her first book tracking her journeys of pregnancy and motherhood last week in a social media post.
"This book is a very personal account of what I experienced both physically and emotionally through both my pregnancies... In many ways, this book is like my third child… from conception to its birth today," she wrote on Instagram.
Married to actor Saif Ali Khan, she is mother to two boys. More about them here.
The row over her book is not the first religious broil Kapoor finds herself in.
Last month, right-wing groups kicked up a furore over the Refugee actor's alleged casting in a film adapted from the epic Ramayana. The Bajrang Dal issued a memorandum threatening "strong resistance" if Kapoor was cast in the role of Sita.
Days prior to the outrage, sources close to the film had reportedly refuted rumours of Kapoor's involvement in the film directed by Alaukik Desai. Read here.
Previously, Kapoor and her family found themselves amid widespread national outrage as people protested against her naming her son Taimur, which resembled the title of a historical invader from the 14th century. Kapoor and husband Khan kept their second child's name under wraps for a long time in a bid to avoid similar backlash. Only recently, a family member reportedly revealed the younger son's name was Jeh.
