Hyderabad: Family Member Arrested After 2-Month-Old Found Dead In Water Tank

Baby Found Dead In Water Tank In Hyderabad: A 2-month-old baby in Hyderabad went missing at 4 am in morning. The mother woke up to her baby being missing from her side. She alerted the police and after an investigation, the police have arrested the woman's sister-in-law.

D Latha, who visited her parents to deliver her first baby in Anjapur village on the outskirts of Hyderabad, found her baby missing as she woke up to check on the baby. She alerted the family member and eventually the police. They found out that the baby went missing from a house locked from the inside and the pet dog did not raise an alert for any stranger.

After investigation, the police found that there was no evidence of a forced entry in the house and hence the police concluded that it has been done by someone from the family. A case of murder on Latha's sister-in-law was registered under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, K Purushotham Reddy said in his statement, " The only occupants of the house were Latha, her elder brother Balraj, her sister-in-law Swetha, parents and the family pet dog. The police checked the CCTV in the locality but did not find any leads.

Finally, in the morning at around 7 am the police with the help of a local opened the water tank and found the baby. The police arrested the sister-in-law of the mother for allegedly holding a grudge against her.

Swetha, D Latha's sister-in-law, had a miscarriage before Latha had a baby. After Latha came back home, she reportedly mocked Swetha over her miscarriage. Hence, Swetha held a grudge against Latha.

According to the police statement, in order to take revenge, Swetha took the sleeping infant at around 3:50 am and attempted to kill the child by pressing his nose and chest but the baby started crying. After which she threw the baby in the water tank. She then went to sleep.
