Olympic bronze medallist and five-time world champion MC Mary Kom is all set to launch her own academy to train aspirant sportspersons. On March 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 'Mary Kom Regional Boxing Foundation' in Imphal.
Alongside PM Modi, Olympic medallists boxer Vijender Kumar and wrestler Sushil Kumar will be present at the event
"The foundation is grateful to both central and state government for establishment of these sports facilities after many years of struggle since its inception in 2006," a press release states.

"The foundation expresses their gratitude to PMO for making (it) to the event and formally handover the buildings to the foundation for promotion of boxing sports," it added.
A five-time world and Asian champion, “Magnificent Mary” is also the country's only woman boxer with an Olympic medal (a bronze won in London 2012 Games).
Mary Kom's Boxing Academy is located at Langol hills in Manipur's Imphal West district. It is currently training 45 young boxers, including 20 girls
Funded by National Sports Development Fund (NSDF), this academy is Kom’s long-awaited dream come true.
The 35-year-old took up the mission with full gusto and started the platform to groom youngsters in sports.
The mother of three recently won the gold medal in the Asian Boxing Championships in Ho Chi Minh City. Not just boxing, the MP is equally passionate to make a difference in society. She recently provided fund for five toilets at Golmuri police line in Jamshedpur.
