Pilibhit schoolgirl abducted: Nineteen days after a schoolgirl was found dead at a cane field, another girl was allegedly abducted from Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh. The survivor, who was allegedly abducted by a group of men, managed to jump out of a moving car on a state highway. A case has been registered against the accused for kidnapping and an investigation is underway.

The class nine student was allegedly picked by a group of men near Shahjahanpur-Pilibhit state highway at Barkhera in Pilibhit district. The survivor alleged that the car was moving towards Majhola.
The survivor also alleged that the men had stuffed a piece of cloth in her mouth after picking her up. She, somehow, managed to break free and jump out of the moving car. Next, she managed her way back to Pihibit city, where she was taken to the Kotwali Police Station. The report does not mention who took her to the police station.
Pilibhit city is 256.5 kilometers away from Lucknow, which is the capital of Uttar Pradesh.
Her father was then called in and a complaint was lodged by the police. Later, the same day, a first-person report (FIR ) was lodged against the unknown abductors at Barkhera Police Station. The unknown accused were charged with section 364 of the Indian Penal Code for abduction.
Throwing light to the events before the incident took place, the survivor's father said that his daughter had left her bag at school and went out to the market to buy a book. On her way to the bookstore, a car allegedly stopped and she was allegedly dragged by a man inside the vehicle.
The alleged abductors threatened her to keep quiet. Later, she freed herself by jumping out of the car. She returned to Pilibhit on an e-rickshaw, said the father in the complaint. After reaching the city, she called her mother using someone else's phone.

The Superintendent of Police (Pilibhit) Dinesh Kumar said that the FIR was registered immediately. However, the girl was abducted from a busy market where no one saw the incident. So, the police are yet to find any CCTV footage to confirm that the incident took place.
"She doesn't remember the make of the car she was kidnapped in. We are investigating the case and collecting all possible evidence," said Kumar.
This is not the first time a girl was abducted from the region. On November 15, in a similar case, a schoolgirl was allegedly abducted, gangraped and then murdered. The deceased girl's body was found in a cane field in Pilibhit. She was a class 12 girl and used to return home from coaching at 5 PM. When she did not return home, the father went police. The search began late at night and in the morning her body was discovered.
