It’s been 11 years since Bollywood lost Parveen Babi. After a long legal battle put up by her paternal family, the Bombay High Court has finally accepted the legitimacy of her will, offering relief to Muradkhan Babi, 82, the actress' maternal uncle.
According to the will, 80% of Parveen's wealth will be used to serve and improve the lives of underprivileged children and women from the Babi community of Junagadh, the actress's birthplace. While Muradkhan gets 20% share in her property, no assets go to Parveen's paternal relatives.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the will was produced by Muradkhan in 2005. When relatives from her father's family charged him, saying the document was fake, the case went to the Bombay High Court. According to Muradkhan Babi's lawyer, MD Nagle, this year the family finally accepted Parveen’s decision of sharing her assets with her uncle. As per Justice GS Patel, the High Court would administer the will to Parveen's uncle by December 23, this year.

As India Today reports, "Parveen was very close to me; she grew up in my arms. The legal battle was never really about money or the 20 per cent share she has given me. It was about her last wishes,” Muradkhan, who is a farmer with land located about 20km from Junagadh city in Gujarat’s Saurashtra, said after the case was resolved, adding, “I will not waste any time in formalising things. I will set up the trust and begin work as soon as possible.”
The Parveen Bavi estate includes a sea-facing flat with four bedrooms in Juhu, a haveli in Junagadh in addition to jewellery and deposits worth Rs 20 lakh in banks plus other investments. Muradkhan will take care of the Parveen Babi Trust. Ten per cent of the trust's funds are allotted in the name of St Xavier's College in Ahmedabad, where the star studied master's in English literature before taking up modelling.
