Parakala Vangmayi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's daughter got married in a simple ceremony in Bengaluru's Jayanagar area on Wednesday.
Parakala Vangmayi got married to Prateek Doshi, who hails from Gujarat and is a key aide of PM, Narendra Modi. According to reports, it was a simple ceremony attended by close family, friends and relatives, with no political leaders in attendance.
In several videos of the wedding that surfaced on the internet, Sitharaman can be seen in a simple attire of a blue saree paired with a tangerine blouse. While the bride Parakala can be seen in a pink lehenga and the groom Doshi can be seen in a white shawl and wearing a Pancha.
Who is Parakala Vangmayi?
Vangmayi currently works in the Books and Culture section of Mint Lounge's features department. She is a senior correspondent writing about art, lifestyle, technology, books, etc. She has also worked as a feature writer for other publications like Hindu, Hindustan Times, Pacific Standard, Voice of Fashion, and The Indian Express.
Vangmayi holds a Master's degree from the Department of English at the University of Delhi, and an MS in Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University.
In September 2019, Sitharaman shared a throwback picture with Parakala. In a tweet, she described her as a friend, philosopher, and guide. "Can say so much and more about daughters. A #throwbackpic with my daughter. A friend, philosopher and a guide. Here’s this on #DaughtersDay."
Meanwhile, Doshi has graduated from a management school in Singapore and is currently employed as an Officer-on-Special Duty (OSD) at the PMO. In June 2019, Doshi was elevated to the rank of Joint Secretary.
