A three-year-old girl was raped in Nalasopara, Palghar district, Maharashtra on Monday, October 19. Reportedly, the accused cornered and sexually assaulted the minor when she was playing outside her house. Police officials have registered a case and arrested one suspect in connection with the rape now.
Three-Year-Old Raped In Palghar
As per an ANI report, the incident took place on Monday evening. Consequently, the survivor’s father filed a complaint with the Tulinj police team. The police made the arrest based on the complaint. They also registered a First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code. A Maharashtra court sent the arrested suspect to police custody till October 26. Police investigations are still on in the case.

Maharashtra’s Palghar district has witnessed various cases of crimes against women in recent past. Earlier this month, police arrested a 23-year-old tribal man for allegedly raping a minor girl in Palghar’s Dahanu taluka. Reportedly, the accused made false promises of marriage to the 16-year-old girl and deserted her when she was seven-months pregnant.
Last month, a 31-year-old government school teacher was arrested for raping his 32-year-old colleague in Gondhe, Palghar. The accused also allegedly threatened the woman against sharing the incident with anyone after raping her.

Sexual Crimes Against Minors In India
There has been a rampant increase in sexual crimes against minor girls in India in recent years. Earlier this month, police arrested three men for gangraping a 14-year-old girl in Bhopal. Reportedly, the accused befriended the survivor through the now banned mobile game PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds).
On October 13, a four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her male relative in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district. Last month, five men allegedly gangraped a minor girl in Imalia Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Reportedly, the accused also filmed the incident and uploaded the video on various social media platforms.
