Palestinian Actor Maisa Abd Elhadi Injured By Israeli Police During Demonstration

A source close to the actor revealed that she has got a scar on her leg. “She’s badly injured, but it’s not life-threatening. She will get a very bad scar on her leg from behind with 20 stitches.

The actor was participating in a protest against how Palestinian families were being forcefully taken away from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah, a neighbourhood in East Jerusalem. Shortly after the protests, the actor took to Instagram to showcase her gratitude towards all those “who helped me and took care of me” and added about her condition, “alright, but I was injured on my leg.”

This comes after a photo of Maisa Abd Elhadi in an ambulance went viral on social media.

Maisa Abd Elhadi has also revealed that Israeli police fired at her with live ammunition. She has also been posting several videos of the ongoing demonstrations in the area for a week now.

As for her injury, a source close to the actor revealed that she has got a scar on her leg. “She’s badly injured, but it’s not life-threatening. She will get a very bad scar on her leg from behind with 20 stitches. At the moment she is at the hospital in Haifa, I spoke to her and she’s in good spirits,” said the source.

As far as her work is concerned, Maisa Abd Elhadi had recently starred in the Palestinian 2020 Oscar submission Gaza Mon Amour, Sameh Zoabi’s comedy Tel Aviv On Fire and Muayad Alayan’s Jerusalem-set drama The Reports On Sarah and Saleem.

The last few days have been marred with bloodshed caused due to the forceful evictions of Palestinians from Shiekh Jurrah. A lot of anger has been building up against the unfair favouring of Jews over the Palestinians.

On Friday, about 200 Palestinians were injured, after Israeli forces broke into Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque. Over 43 people including 13 children have been killed in Gaza, due to the Israeli airstrikes.
