Pakistani YouTuber Molestation: The Lahore Police have released 155 suspects they arrested for alleged sexual harassment of a YouTuber girl on Aug 14 at the Minar-i-Pakistan.
The survivor and her team members as per media reports could not recognise the men during an identification parade. This incident got international attention, many expressed outrage over the growing crimes against women in Pakistan.
Pakistani YouTuber Molestation case, what we know so far
In a viral video that made rounds on the internet, hundreds of men were seen throwing the woman in air, dragging her and even going tearing her clothes. Politicians and several citizens of the country condemned what was referred to as "sexual terrorism" by many. The Lahore Police had registered a case against 400 unidentified men for assaulting the girl and her friends. Later, an arrest of 161 men was made in connection with the case.
A Punjab government official said to PTI on Tuesday, September 7 that the Camp Jail in Lahore conducted an identification parade of all the arrested suspects during the last few days under the supervision of a judicial magistrate. Since the girl and her friends could identify only 6 of the suspects, the police told the magistrate that the rest of the suspects were no longer required. Hence, the 155 suspects were subsequently released from jail.
According to reports, the six suspects identified have been sent to judicial custody till September 9. Some of the accused claimed that the woman was herself responsible for everything that had happened. They claimed that she herself invited them to the spot to make videos.
In another shocking incident, a pair of women were reportedly molested by a man on the streets of Pakistan. In a video that went viral, two women are seen travelling in a rickshaw with a child while a man climbs the vehicle and kisses one of them. The undated video left the netizens infuriated.
