In another tale of love transcending borders, a 25-year-old Pakistani woman recently crossed the international boundary to marry a man from Rajasthan. Their love story began on social media and culminated in marriage. Mehvish, from Islamabad, connected with Rehman, a transporter from Rajasthan's Bikaner district, on a social media platform. After her first marriage ended in 2018, Mehvish found solace in her friendship with Rehman. Their online interactions blossomed into love, and on March 13, 2022, Rehman proposed to Mehvish. Just three days later, they had an online marriage ceremony via videoconference.

The couple's virtual wedding was followed by a formal, in-person ceremony. During Mehvish's Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca in 2023, they met and celebrated their union with a traditional ceremony.

Previously, Mehvish had been married for 12 years to a man from Lahore's Badami Bagh and had two sons, aged 12 and 7. The couple divorced in 2018, paving the way for Mehvish's new relationship with Rehman.

On July 25, Mehvish made a significant journey from Islamabad to Lahore, crossing into India through the Wagah border. She was granted a 45-day tourist visa after thorough checks by both Pakistani and Indian authorities. Upon arriving in India, Rehman's family welcomed Mehvish, and they travelled together to Pithisar village in Rajasthan's Churu district.

A Series of Cross-Border Love Stories

Mehvish and Rehman's story adds to the growing list of cross-border romances between India and Pakistan. One notable case involved Seema Haider, who left her husband to cross the border and marry her lover in India. Another story featured Anju, an Indian woman who travelled to Pakistan on a month-long visa to be with her lover, Nasrullah.
