Every day we wake up and hope that society will be different today towards women. But we sit and gasp towards the end, "Somethings are never gonna change." In another demeaning incident that has shown the new low of patriarchy dominating women, a Pakistani singer released a video on why girls should not go to school. The song, uploaded by YouTuber Hafiz Hasan Iqbal Chishti a few weeks ago, is titled 'Apni Dhi Schoolo Hata Le Othy Dance Kardi Payi Ae'. The title is urging people to remove their daughters from school because they have been spotted dancing there which is not acceptable in Islam.

The context of the song

The song allegedly suggests that people must remove their daughters from school if they don't want them to become prostitutes. In the video, Chisti is urging people to keep their daughters at home in purdah to save families' and daughters' izzat. According to the song, girls will lose their sanctity and respect if they go to school.

The song starts with the context of UNESCO organising a dance competition for girls and boys in a school in Pakistan. A clip of a news anchor reading out the news of the dance competition is played and then the moment the anchor says "bacho aur bachio", the word bachio gains highlight with an echoing effect. One could only wonder why "bacho" was ignored.

Reactions from people

The video, since uploaded, has garnered 300,000 views and 3,000 likes which is indeed worrying considering the misogynist content of the song. Does this mean that people' like' the idea of not sending girls to school? Well, some people are upholding and praising the song.
