Padma Lakshmi recently enrolled as an advocate in the Bar Council and became the first Transgender Lawyer in the state of Kerala. P Rajeev the industries minister of Kerala shared a picture of the lawyer to congratulate her on his official Instagram account.
As per the post shared by the industries minister, Padma Lakshmi was one of more than 1500 graduates from the law, who handed over the Bar enrollment certificate and an event which was organised on Sunday by the Bar Council of India. Lakshmi is a graduate of Ernakulam Government Law College.

In the Instagram post, P. Rajeev applauded the efforts by the young lawyer for making a path for herself while considering that she had to face a society that is not really the kindest of the most encouraging.
P. Rajeev said in the post which was in the Malayalam Language, "Congratulations to Padma Lakshmi who overcame all the possible hurdles that come in life and enrolled as the first transgender advocate in the state of Kerala. Being the first is always the hardest achievement in history. There are no predecessors on the way toward the goal. Obstacles will definitely be inevitable. There will be people trying to mute and discourage you. Padma Lakshmi has written her name in legal history by overcoming all of these hurdles."
He also added, "May her life inspire more people from the transgender community to enter the field of advocacy". Instagram users were really glad by the post and shared their reviews on the same in the comment section and flooded it with red heart emojis. One such user wrote, "Congratulations and a hearty welcome to the Advocate community," on the post shared by the Industries Minister, P Rajeev.
The achievement by Padma Lakshmi is being applauded by the people on social media after India's first transgender judge, Joyita Mondal was appointed as a judge in the Lok Adalat of Islampur, West Bengal in the year 2017. Earlier in 2018 Vidya Kamble a transgender activist was appointed as a member judge in the Lok Adalat situated in Nagpur, Maharashtra as well and the country got the third transgender judge Swati Bidhan Baruah from Guwahati.
