Tell me if this rings any bells: four ghost hunters are on a mission to save New York city from a supernatural apocalypse!
Yep, that’s right. The legendary Ghostbusters!
It was first released in 1984 casting Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson and grabbed millions of people’s attention! A bad ass team shooting down ghosts, who doesn’t like the idea?!
Apparently 900,000 people on YouTube.
Now now, we’re talking about the NEW Ghostbusters movie that’s due to release on July 15th and this one has an all female cast! Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones are the new Ghostbusters team! While many of us were excited to watch these women take out these evil souls who are to destroy New York city, the YouTube audience didn’t quite take this trailer that well.

Although this did not dampen the spirits of Melissa McCarthy who says, “I wanted to bring from the spirit of the old ones that even if you don’t believe in us, we’re going to do the right thing always. I think that’s why I love them so much, they’re still saving everybody even though people aren’t rooting for them." reported Reuters.

My Take
I don’t understand why it would get such hate from the YouTubers when a storyline like this has worked with them before. Looks like we’re fighting sexism even where there seems to be no need of it at all in the first place. Would they have liked it if the women in the movie were not scientists, but skimpily dressed objectified action figures? Guess we’ll never know!
The trailer quiet honestly looks like a movie that would make my weekend a funny one. Also, more girl power to the women cast of the movie! Who said saving lives was only a man’s job. If we knew better, we’d be saving our lives from men. Ouch.
Go Team Ghostbusters 2016!
