Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown solidarity with Muslim women going through the agony of triple talaq in the country and said that these women should be provided justice. Modi said this at the BJP's national executive meet in Odisha's capital Bhubaneswar on Sunday, April 16.
"Our Muslim sisters should also get justice. Injustice should not be done with them. Nobody should be exploited," said the PM, reported by TOI.
The Prime Minister said if there are social evils, society should be woken up and efforts made to provide justice to the victims," Union Minister Nitin Gadkari told reporters about Modi’s view on the issue. The PM believes that the Muslim community should not have any conflict over this issue of triple talaq.
"We do not want that there is conflict within the Muslim community over this issue. What we have to do is that if there are any social evils, we have to wake up the society and make efforts to provide justice to them (Muslim women). That was the Prime Minister's spirit," Gadkari said.
Before Modi’s speech, the Muslim Personal Law Board had also launched warning against those men who give triple talaq without any concrete reasons given in the Sharia Law.
"It has been decided in executive body meeting that those misusing triple talaq will face social boycott," AIMLPB's Maulana Khalid R Firangi said, adding, "There has been misunderstanding on this issue, we will issue a code of conduct on it."

The central government has already revealed its stance on the issue. Last December, Allahabad HC had also ruled that triple talaq should be repealed as it discriminates on the basis of gender and is exploitative of women’s right of equality.
The case against triple talaq is going on in the Supreme Court and May 11 to 19 is finalised as the timeline to decide on the legality of triple talaq.
