A fraud case had been registered against Oracle India's Pradeep Agarwal and his wife at Jubilee Hills police station in February 2021. The police served notices to Pradeep Agarwal at Gurgaon on Monday.
The couple had allegedly duped a Hyderabad-based media house for an interior designing project of their office. Meenu Agarwal, Pradeep Agarwal, along with their associates Alam and Drishti Agarwal have been booked under sections 406, 420 and 506 of the IPC.
Pradeep Agarwal had claimed on his LinkedIn profile that he was the 'Senior Director - Cloud at Oracle' and also that he was 'formerly country manager Google.' The police have written to the company Oracle to verify this claim.
Pradeep Agarwal's wife, Meenu Agarwal, who is the founder and principal designer of MADS Creations, is the prime accused in the fraud case.
According to police reports, the complainant had approached the firm owned by Agarwal, for an interior designing project. The two companies agreed on the renovation and an agreement was constructed to develop the premises for Rs 1,06,20,000 inclusive of the GST. The media house had reportedly paid the firm Rs 50 lakhs in December 2020. And then Rs 30 lakhs in January 2021.
A man named Rasheed representing the company MADS Creations had overseen the materials which were stored in the media house's storage. But the complainant claimed that Rasheed locked the material and the media house was not able to access their own material.
The complainant said that Rasheed had locked up the premises with fraudulent intentions to harm their right over the property. He further added that the modus operandi of Meenu Agarwal and her team was clear and they have succeeded in manipulating the media house by making false and frivolous promises.
He further added that the company is further pressuring the media house to pay more money without completing any of the interior works.
The complainant alleged, "Repeated calls to send technicians for fixing the materials were also not responded to. Meenu Agarwal and her team has cheated us and extorted Rs 80 lakh. "
