Today is the third edition of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, an initiative started by a German NGO in 2014 in order to spread more awareness about taboos, as well as physical and psychological effects about menstruation. This initiative has been a great step forward in opening up the dialogue about the issue as well as shattering some common myths around it.
This year as well, many individuals and organizations across the globe took it upon them to spread awareness in whatever capacity they could. Art was seen as a major theme that was used to caste some light on the existing taboos and offered resolutions on the same. Here are some noteworthy things that happened in the digital space today:
Menstrupedia:
Menstrupedia launched highly creative digital audio-visual comic, suitable for any girl above 9 years of age. The comic highlights what a girl what a girl can expect during her period, what it means and ways in which she can deal with the problems that come with the 'gift of nature' that has been bestowed upon the woman! Unique and informative, this book is sure to engage young girls about the fascinating changes that their bodies are likely to go through.

HerStory:
Herstory published a set of medieval painting posters that busted some myths with a funny take on popular beliefs. Issues touched upon included shaming and controlling physical mobility of women on their periods, things that affect our self-esteem and capacities as individuals at all stages of life.

If Men Had Periods:
You might find it entertaining, but that's because you would be challenging your imagination to picture a reality that the other gender is highly incapacitated to deal with. The video shows what tampons would look and be perceived like if men had periods. The funny part is that their imagination tells us that masculinity would work in their favor even in this regard!
