The chain of events began on Monday when a stray dog attacked Dukhi Barik's beloved pet goat, resulting in its untimely demise. Overwhelmed with grief, Barik is said to have harbored deep resentment and sought vengeance for her loss.

Poisonous Retribution Against Local Animals

Unable to cope with the anguish of losing her goat, Barik allegedly resorted to a sinister act of retaliation. Reports suggest that she added poison to food and distributed it among animals in the vicinity, leading to the tragic deaths of approximately 25 crows, 20 dogs, and three cats.

The consequences of Barik's alleged act unfolded on Tuesday morning, as residents discovered the lifeless bodies of the poisoned animals and birds scattered across Chatra Math, Bakharpur, Amirpur, and other areas within Tirtol police limits. The shocking scene left the community in dismay, with residents expressing their outrage against this inhumane act.

The distressing incident has ignited a wave of shock and anger among the locals. Led by Narayan Nanda from Bakharpur, villagers filed an FIR at the Tirtol police station, urging authorities to take swift action against Dukhi Barik. Nanda alleges that the act was a deliberate attempt to serve the poisoned meat of her dead goat to the animals, further intensifying the severity of the situation.

 Authorities Probe into the Allegations

Inspector-in-charge Abhimanyu Nayak stated that an investigation into the matter has been initiated, with a case registered against Dukhi Barik. The deceased animals have been sent for a postmortem at the local veterinary hospital to determine the exact cause of death. Currently, no arrests have been made as authorities diligently work to unravel the circumstances surrounding this disturbing incident.
