Odisha’s swimmer Pratyasha Ray has clinched two gold medals and one silver at the ongoing South Asian Aquatic Championship (SAAC) – 2016 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
According to reports, Pratyasha dived into the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex in Colombo and came second in the 50-metre backstroke swimming category of the event, which gave her a silver. Then she bagged two gold medals in the 4X100m relay event and 4X100 mixed relay event at the championship.

The tournament, which is being hosted by Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU), is on till October 23 and has participants from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

With these medals, Pratyasha becomes the first Odia swimmer to have won an international medal in swimming. Earlier this year, she became the first Odia swimmer to win a medal at the national level.
