DRDO espionage Mystery Woman: Investigating the espionage case at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Interim Test Range (ITR), the Odisha Police has asked for help from the interpol to track down a mysterious woman who allegedly engaged five test range employees to leak defence information to a foreign agent.
Sanjeev Panda, the Additional Director General of Odisha police crime branch said that the photograph of the said woman has been obtained along with a video footage from video calls with accused persons.
He said, "We will establish contact with the Interpol to track down the mysterious lady handler who had been eliciting information from the five accused."
The investigating agency has reportedly found proof that the 'mystery woman' managed to hack mobile phones of the one of the accused persons for over eight months and kept tabs of his activities. The woman is accused of stealing vital information about the IT, Chandipur, Panda added.
After verification of certain documents, the Odisha police expects to extend custody of five accused persons who are currently in judicial custody.
As per reports, one of the accused persons in the case allegedly received ₹ 38,000 in two installments. The police is yet to determine whether the money came from the said woman's bank account or someone other. The woman reportedly had UK SIM card which she used to contact the five accused persons of the DRDO arrested on September 14 and 16. She allegedly lured the men for money and promise of marriage so that they would give her vital information.
The woman acted like she was a resident of Balasore district stayed connected with the accused men on Facebook under different names. She also used WhatsApp, Panda said.
During frequent video calls to two accused men, the woman proposed marriage, as per the officials. She had also invited them to her home in Chandipur.
