Odia playback singer Tapu Mishra died Saturday owing to post COVID-19 complications, at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. Her demise at the young age of 36 has left the music industry and fans in shock.
As per a PTI report, Mishra was in hospital since May 19. The virus infection severely damaged her lungs, though her COVID1-19 reports came negative, Times of India reports. She was put on ventilator a few days ago when her oxygen levels dipped.
Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled Mishra's death, ଲୋକପ୍ରିୟ କଣ୍ଠଶିଳ୍ପୀ ତପୁ ମିଶ୍ରଙ୍କ ଦେହାନ୍ତ ବିଷୟରେ ଜାଣି ମୁଁ ଦୁଃଖିତ। ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସଙ୍ଗୀତ ଜଗତରେ ସେ ସ୍ଥାପନ କରିଥିବା କୀର୍ତ୍ତି ସର୍ବଦା ତାଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ମରଣୀୟ କରି ରଖିବ। ତାଙ୍କ ଅମର ଆତ୍ମାର ସଦଗତି କାମନା କରିବା ସହ ଶୋକସନ୍ତପ୍ତ ପରିବାର ସଦସ୍ୟଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ମୋର ସମବେଦନା ଜଣାଉଛି।

Condolences Pour In For Tapu Mishra
Funds were reportedly being raised in Ollywood for Mishra's treatment. Orissa's Culture Department had also sanctioned one lakh rupees from the Artistes' Welfare Fund for the same.
On June 3, actor Sonu Sood who has been connecting the needy to resources and essentials supply through the pandemic responded to a medical request from film director Geeta Dash for Mishra, whose health was critical. Mishra was prominent in the Odia music industry for her bhajans and film playbacks. Her debut in the industry came with Kulanandan and she had over 500 song titles to her credit in her two-decade-plus career.
