Noor Mukadam case: In the Noor Mukadam case, Sheikh Rashid, Pakistan's Interior Minister said yesterday that the government has placed the suspects in the case, including the parents of Zahir Jaffer, on a no-fly list.
Noor Mukadam is the daughter of a former Pakistani diplomat, Shaukat Mukadam. She was found dead at her residence in Islamabad on July 20. The minister revealed that the decision to place the accused on the Exit Control List (ECL) was taken during a meeting early this week.
Earlier, a district and sessions court extended the judicial remand of Zahir Jaffer's parents, Zakir Jaffer and Asmat Adamjee, till August 23. Judicial Magistrate Naseer Uddin sent back to Adiala Jail after their remand was concluded and bail plea was rejected on August 5th. Jaffer's parents had said that they were not with their son and did not know what was happening.
Twenty-seven-year-old Mukadam was allegedly shot and slaughtered by the accused. Zahir Jaffer was arrested on the spot and taken to the police station. Jaffer is the son of the chief executive officer of a leading construction company in Islamabad. The police reportedly found a pistol at the suspect’s house. Further, a bullet was recovered which was stuck in the chamber as per various reports.
According to reports, Mukadam was killed after her breakup with the Jaffer. She was believed to not have been in contact with her father before her death.
In the wake of the murder, Pakistan’s social media trended with hashtags #JusticeForNoor and #JusticeForNoorMukadam. Shaukat Mukadam Noor's father served as Pakistan’s ambassador to Kazakhstan and South Korea.
Before Mukadam horrible death in another act of violence against women, the daughter of Afghanistan’s ambassador to Pakistan. On July 16, Silsila Alikhil, the 26-year-old daughter of Afghanistan ambassador to Pakistan Najibullah Alikhil was allegedly abducted and severely tortured on her way home.
