Robbing Through Promised ‘Massages’

ACP Rajnish Verma told the Times of India (TOI) that the gang members circulated online advertisements for their “massage parlour services.” Afterwards, the targeted men would contact the accused via WhatsApp and reportedly receive images of women meant to render the spa services. Consequently, the targets would select an image and come to meet the particular woman at a predetermined location late at night. Once trapped in a lonely spot, different women would approach the targets and start arguing with them. Amidst  distraction and chaos, the male gang members would join them and rob them of their personal belongings and valuables.

Additional DCP (Noida) Ranvijay Singh also told the TOI that the police had noticed certain vehicles, including a Santro, acting suspiciously in the Noida area for some time now. The accused gang members have probably duped hundreds of people using this modus operandi. However, the cops said that many victims don’t come forward in such cases because of shame.

Also, cops are still searching for the women involved in the plan and other operating gang members in Noida.

Gangster Sonu Punjaban

Police first arrested Sonu Punjaban, aka Geeta Arora, in 2007. The charges included human trafficking and running a major call girl racket in Delhi and its neighbouring states. Currently, Punjaban is serving 24-year long imprisonment in Delhi’s Tihar Jail for the same charges. However, this recent nabbing has suggested that Punjaban continues to run her racket online with the help of her aides.

Notably, in Sonu’s absence, her cousin Sanjay seems to have taken the lead in the gang, as per the police. The cops said that he allegedly oversees the majority of the gang’s Delhi-NCR crimes. Also, he reportedly takes the largest portion of the looted money.
