Little else tops the place teachers hold in our lives. Especially those from school, who played the role of second parents to us, making unparalleled contributions to shaping us as individuals that have made us the people we are today. The warmth, therefore, of going back in years to reconnect with remnants of school always remains special to many of us.
It flooded Nivedita Bhasin recently when she rekindled her relationship with a long-lost teacher who taught her when she was only nine. An accomplished pilot, notable for making history as the youngest woman pilot in the world to command a commercial carrier in the 1990s, Bhasin found her class four teacher on Facebook after 50 years.
"She taught me in 1972 and clearly, left an indelible mark on me as an impressionable 9 year old. She remembers my name too!!" wrote an elated Bhasin on Twitter, sharing a screenshot of her teacher Linda Noronha's reply to her.

Bhasin has broken and flown through the glass ceiling more than once, with multiple credits to her name. She has been a part of several momentous all-women flying crews in India, including the Calcutta-Silchar flight in 1985 and the Mumbai-Goa Boeing in 1989. What's more, she belongs to a family of aviators, with her husband, daughter and son all sharing the same profession.
It turns out, for Bhasin, dreams of soaring high took root when she was just a primary school girl - something Noronha delightfully remembered. "You wrote an essay in class 4 wanting to be a pilot... I remember seeing your name for some exemplary thing with Indian Airlines so I knew you fulfilled your dream!" Noronha's reply to Bhasin read.
"I am so happy to connect... that was the best class I ever taught... don't remember all the names but I do remember the little excited faces!! Frozen in my mind!!"

They figured that our grandma 'Dorothy teacher' taught her English in the 1950s," said another.
