The first phase of the Lok Sabha Election began today and people across the states and constituencies are heading to the polling booths to exercise their right to vote and choose the right government. Videos and updates of voters are flooding the internet. The most traction is being gained by voters who arrive at the polling booth while being dressed as brides or grooms. Not Without My Vote, Says Bride
A bride from the Muzaffarpur constituency of Uttar Pradesh arrived at the polling booth decked up in bridal lehenga. She came to cast her vote on her wedding day. Speaking to the media, the bride said, "It is the right of every citizen to cast their votes in elections." She also added that she was supporting her uncle who belongs to the village as her. She said, "I have come here to extend full support to my uncle."

Udhampur: A groom and a newlywed couple arrive at the polling booth
In another news coming from Jammu and Kashmir, a man decked up in traditional sherwani and a colourful headgear arrived at the polling booth of Udhampur constituency to cast his vote. The groom, identified as Kapil Gupta, was accompanied by his friends. He got married on Thursday and arrived at the polling booth on Friday morning as soon as he returned home.
Encouraging everyone to exercise their right to vote, Gupta said, "Voting is our right and must be done on priority."
From the same constituency, another newlywed, Sahil and Radhika, arrived at a polling booth set up in a school in Udhampur to cast their votes. The bride, Radhika said, "We got married only yesterday (Thursday) and I told my husband that we should vote. My vote is not here but I accompanied him."
"I will be visiting my parents later in the day in a nearby village to fulfil my democratic responsibility as well," she further added.
Women voters outnumber men
Phasee I of the Lok Sabha Elections is seeing a historic rise in the number of women voters arriving at the polling booths. In Assam, women voters outnumbered the male voters in all five constituencies. As per the reports, there were 43,64,859 women voters compared to 42,82,887 male voters.
