Assam: Newborn Declared Dead Comes Alive Moments Before Cremation

A newborn baby who was declared dead by the doctors of a private hospital in Silchar, Assam, was found to be alive right before the cremation procedure on October 4.

Ratan Das, father of the baby, took his six-month pregnant wife to a private hospital on October 3, where the doctors said that due to complications, they would only be able to save either the mother or the baby.

Newborn Declared Dead Comes Alive

The doctors performed the delivery and informed Das that his wife had given birth to a stillborn baby. The grieving parents received the body of their baby in a packet on the morning of October 4.

The family had taken the body to the crematorium in Silchar and miraculously found the baby crying when they opened the packet before the last rites. They immediately rushed the baby to the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

Soon after the incident, a group of people from Silchar’s Milinibil area gathered in protest in front of the hospital. They staged a protest against the hospital authorities for their carelessness.

The family members of the newborn baby have registered an FIR against the hospital and a doctor for negligence of duty.

The hospital authorities, on the other hand, claimed that they kept the baby under observation for eight hours before declaring it dead.

Delhi Newborn Found Alive Before Burial

Earlier in February, a newborn baby who was delivered prematurely at the Delhi government Lok Nayak Hospital was declared dead by the hospital authorities. However, the baby was found to be alive as the family was preparing for her burial.

A six-month-pregnant woman named Ruksar was rushed to the hospital after she complained of severe stomach pain. She was taken into surgery, and the hospital authorities said the baby was stillborn. The body was wrapped in a cloth, placed in a cardboard box, and handed over to the family for rituals.

When the family was preparing for the baby’s burial at around 9 pm, they heard cries from the cardboard box, and upon opening it, they found the baby to be crying and moving its arms and legs. The family immediately rushed her to the hospital, where she underwent treatment.
