Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai’s Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede and his team of five officers were attacked by a mob on Sunday during search operations regarding drug peddling. Following the incident, Wankhede’s wife, Marathi actor Kranti Redkar Wankhede opened up about the attack via a social media post.

Redkar took to social media to thank well-wishers
Redkar took to Twitter to speak about the incident and thanked everyone. “Thank you everyone for your wishes and concern. #sameerwankhede is fine. We all at home are standing strong with him. Big salute to all the @narcoticsbureau officers who put up a fight and stood strong. You make us proud today and everyday. #Courage #gallant #NationFirst,” she wrote. She posted the same message on her Instagram as well. “Thank you all. No words are enough to appreciate the concern and love that you all showered on us. @sameer_wankhede1979,” she added in the caption to the post.

The well-known Marathi actress on speaking about her husband with the Times of India earlier had said that she appreciates that a lot of people, especially women reach out to her on social media to laud Wankhede’s efforts regarding NCB. She also added that Wankhede’s hard work is paying off.
About the incident
On Sunday, in the Goregaon area of Mumbai, a team of six officers including Wankhede had reportedly gone for investigation in relation to drug peddling. However, a mob of 50-60 gathered at the place to save the alleged drug peddler. They physically assaulted the officers. Two of the NCB officials have sustained injuries. Wankhede probed the drug conspiracy link involving actor Rhea Chakraborty in connection with actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death as well.

Who is Kranti Redkar?
Kranti Redkar is a well-known Marathi film, television and stage theatre actress who hails from Mumbai. She has played the important role in Prakash Jha’s 2003 film Gangaajal, in which she appeared as a kidnapped girl. She has also directed a 2014 movie called Kaakan. Redkar married Wankhede in March 2017 and they have a pair of twin daughters. Recently, she launched her clothing brand called ‘ZiyaZyda’ after her daughters’ names in September.
