Furniturewala and Sajnani were brought in on Thursday and hours of interrogation led the officials to arrest the duo due to their alleged connection with the drug case.
This is not the first time that Furniturewala has been arrested. Last month, she was taken into custody in connection with a 200 kg drug bust made by the NCB. Both Sajnani and Furniturewal were brought in for questioning after the agency found new evidence that suggested their connection in the case.
So far, many arrests have been made in the probe, several A-list names from the industry have come up on the radar, and these newest arrests take the total number of arrests in the case to 33.
Last year, Rajput's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty were also arrested in connection with the drug probe and later released on bail.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14, sending the entire nation into shock. He was 34. Earlier, his death case was being investigated by the Mumbai Police but after his father lodged an FIR in Patna, the probe was transferred to the CBI. The Kedarnath actor’s death is currently being investigated by three central agencies – CBI, NCB and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has not yet ruled out the actual reason for his death officially.
