Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu and his wife Navjot Kaur have been served a ₹850-crore legal notice over his alleged claims of a "traditional diet" they followed for her cancer recovery. The Chhattisgarh Civil Society (CCS), sought evidence from her over the misleading 'home remedies' shared by her Congress leader husband, Asian News International reported.
'Raw Turmeric, Lemon Water, Walnuts'
According to ANI, Sidhu shared that Kaur's Stage 4 cancer was cured by a diet despite doctors giving her just about 40 days to live. He equated cancer with “inflammation”, suggesting that it is caused by milk, wheat, refined maida, and sugar.

Sidhu released a diet plan including lemon water, raw turmeric, apple cider vinegar, walnuts, juice made from neem leaves, carrot, amla, and quinoa among others. The politician said that Kaur removed rice, sugar, dairy, and wheat from her diet.
“I want to say that a doctor is like God to me, and doctors have always been my priority. I have a doctor (Navjot Kaur Sidhu) at home. Whatever we have done was done with the consultation of doctors in a collaborative process," Sidhu reportedly said.
Doctors Refute Claims
Sidhu's 'diet plan' has stirred controversy as the medical community raised concerns that it could mislead people. CCS' notice to Kaur read, "It has the potential to create negativity in people’s minds towards allopathic medicine and treatment."

The CCS asked the following questions to Kaur:
- Do you support the claims regarding your health and recovery made by your husband?
- Do you believe that the allopathic medicines that you took for your treatment had no effect?
- Did you only consume your diet, like neem leaves, lemon water, tulsi and turmeric for your recovery, or you also used allopathic medicines?
CCS further asserted, "It is compelling even cancer patients to leave the medication in between, which has increased their life risks." They also said that they will undertake legal action against Kaur until she provides "proof to back up" her claims by a week.
