Every year on March 4th, National Safety Day is commemorated to honour the founding ideals of the National Safety Council. The campaign will be in its 52nd year this year. National Safety and Security Day was the previous name for the day. Through leadership, research, teaching, and advocacy, the National Safety Council works to eliminate needless deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the road.
National Safety Day History:
The National Safety Council is India's primary non-profit, self-sustaining, tripartite apex body at the national level. It is an autonomous agency established on 4 March 1966 by the Government of India's Ministry of Labour and Employment to originate, develop, and sustain a national voluntary movement on safety, health, and the environment (SHE). It was first established as a society under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 and then as a public trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act of 1950.
Creating a preventive culture, scientific attitude, and systematic approach to SHE challenges for the benefit of society These are fundamental humanitarian concerns.
National Safety Day 2022 Theme:
The National Safety Council of India (NSC) announces the theme of National Safety Day every year and encourages organisations to lead the safety campaign to educate people about industrial safety. The theme for National Safety Day 2022 has been announced by the National Safety Council of India this year that is, “Nurture young minds - Develop safety culture”
Every year, a theme is used to commemorate National Safety Day. As a result, "Sadak Suraksha (Road Safety)" was chosen as the theme for National Safety Day 2021.
National Safety Day 2022 Primary Objectives:
- Assist in the integration of safety and health into the workplace culture and lifestyle.
- Employees' commitment to workplace safety and health should be renewed.

The National Safety Council has published the pledge regarding National Safety Day. It goes like this:
"On this Day, I solemnly affirm that I rededicate myself to the Cause Of safety, health and protection of environment and Will do my best to observe rules, regulations and develop attitudes and habits conducive for achieving all these objectives.
I fully realize that accidents and disease are a drain on the national economy and may lead to disablements, deaths, harm to health and damage to property, social suffering and general degradation of environment.
