National level wrestler Nisha Dahiya and her brother were reported to be killed by unknown assailants. The incident happened at Sushil Kumar Wrestling Academy in Sonepat's Halalpur, Haryana, on Wednesday. The recent reports have confirmed that she is alive and well the reports were not substantial.

Nisha Dahiya Shot Dead? Here is what we know about the incident:
- Besides Nisha and her brother, their mother Dhanpati were also reported to have been injured during the fake incident.
- Her mother was reported to be in a critical condition and admitted to Rohtak's PGI hospital, as per report.
- A journalist informed that a newcomer named Nisha Dahiya was shot dead in Sonepat and not the U-23 champion.
- On Friday last week, the wrestler was in news for bagging a bronze medal in 65 kg at Wrestling U-23 World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also congratulated the wrestler by tweeting, "Congratulations to Shivani, Anju, Divya, Radhika and Nisha for winning medals at the Wrestling Championships in Belgrade. Their performance is special and will contribute to wrestling becoming even more popular across India"
- Nisha Dahiya bagged a gold medal at the cadet National Championships in 2014 in Srinagar and repeated the feat the following year.
- She bagged her first international medal in 2014 when she returned with a bronze in the 49kg category from Asian Championships.
- She also made news for winning a bronze at the National Championships in 2015 following which she tested positive for meldonium and had to face a four-year ban. Consequently, she lost the railway job also which she was supposed to bag after winning cadet medals.
