There are a myriad young girls in our country who are audacious enough to risk their own lives to save others from danger. The government has identified seven such gallant girls who made the country proud by exhibiting acts of bravery. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be giving them the National Bravery Awards on 24th January.

1. Netravati Chavan was a 14-year-old braveheart from Karnataka who managed to save one of two brothers who had fallen into a 30-ft-pond. She died while saving the younger one who had held her neck very tightly. The girl has been posthumously awarded the Geeta Chopra National Bravery Award this year.
2. Nazia is a 16-year-old from Agra in Uttar Pradesh who took on a gambling and drug mafia. She has been awarded the Bharat Award. Her grit and courage has led to the cessation of decades-long terror and harassment.

3. Mamta Dalai from Odisha is the youngest awardee among all. She fought off a 5-ft crocodile to save her friend. She has won the Bapu Gaidhani award.
4. Loukrakpam Rajeshwori Chanu will also receive the award posthumously. A woman and her child had fallen from a rickety bridge into the Imphal river. Rajeshwori saved the mother-child duo but was herself carried away by strong current.
5. A 16-year old, Samridhi Sharma from Gujarat, will be the recipient of the general award. She valiantly fought back a miscreant who had attacked her in her house. She had sustained knife injuries in the process, but still managed to chase away the attacker.
7. Manshal N from Nagaland is also a recipient of the bravery award
Besides these 7 girls, there are 11 boys as well who will be felicitated by the Prime Minister.
