Naomi Osaka Invests In National Women's Soccer League Team, NC Courage

NC Courage is one of the 10 teams that take part in the National Women's Soccer League. The team stood winner of the league in 2018 and 2019. It also won the Women's ICC Championship in 2018.

Naomi Osaka Invests in NC Courage: Naomi Osaka, the three-time Grand Slam Champion has bought an ownership stake in the North Carolina Courage a team of National Women's Soccer League(NWSL).

NC Courage is one of the 10 teams that take part in the National Women's Soccer League. The team stood winner of the league in 2018 and 2019. It also won the Women's ICC Championship in 2018. 

Osaka took to Twitter on Thursday to announce her big news. She shared her pictures wearing a jersey of her name and wrote, " The women who have invested in e growing up make who I am today. I don't know where I would be without them. Throughout my career, I've always received so much love from my fellow female athletes so that's why I am proud to share that I am now an owner of @TheNCCourage"  

Osaka became the highest-paid female athlete last year according to the Forbes magazine. In an interview, she shared that she was having discussions with NWSL commissioner Lisa Baird for some time and that she looked at several teams before finally investing in NC Courage. The team is also owned by Steve Malik. 

Osaka said that she wanted to get involved with NWSL to promote women's sports and also saw it as a business investment opportunity as she said that she sees it growing rapidly. She said that she likes the people who run the club.

 "They align so closely with my values and interests — promoting women’s sports through grassroots and using the team as a platform to do good in the community,” she added. 

Naomi Osaka is currently preparing for the Australian Open which will commence from February 8. She will play as the number 3 seed. She won the Australian Open in 2019.
