Naomi Judd's death news came on Saturday, April 30, which was a day before the ceremony where The Judds were going to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Wynonna Judd, the other half of The Judds, attended the ceremony alone on May 1, 2022.

Naomi was born on January 11, 1946, in Kentucky, USA. Naomi's first daughter, Wynonna, was born when she was 18 years of age and in a relationship with Michael Ciminella. The couple got divorced after the birth of their second daughter Ashley and since then, Naomi raised her daughters as a single mother. Her duo with daughter Wynonna won five Grammy awards along with innumerable other honours.

However, in 1991, the duo split as Naomi was diagnosed with Hepatitis C and Wynonna went on to pursue a solo career. Naomi then diverted her focus to acting and the duo reunited occasionally for special concerts. Judd suffered anxiety and depression after her last tour and was on medication which contained lithium which reportedly produced side effects. Her daughters announced her death in a Tweet saying, "Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness."

Naomi and Wynonna had a farewell tour scheduled for September 30, 2022, to October 28, 2022, which was decided to be a 10 days long tour starting from Grand Rapids, Michigan and ending in Bridgestone Arena, Nashville. The tour was supposed to celebrate the 38 year-long musical journeys of the legend and the constant support of her fans. According to the social media handles of the Judds', tickets for three of the arena were sold out.

The Country Music Hall of Fame ceremony took place in a sober way with not much celebration as the industry mourned the loss of the legend. Her induction was received by her daughters, Ashley and Wynonna who were in tears while they held onto each other's hands and recited a Bible verse together. Outside the museum, a framed photo of Judd was placed with a white flower bouquet laid on it.
