The Muslim Student Front is the young wing of Indian Union Muslim League ( IUML). Navas was charged under sections 354 (A)(I)(IV) (physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures and making sexually coloured remarks) and 509 (insulting the modesty of women) of the IPC. The case against him was filed at Vellayil police station in Kozikode, according to reports.

Navas before getting release was taken into custody at Chemmangad police station, as per a report.

PK Navas And Other MSF Leaders :

As per reports, ten members of the women's wing of MSF, called Haritha, had submitted a complaint against Navas with the Kerala state women's panel in August this year. The complaint also named MDF Malappuram district president M Kabeer and VA Wahab as accused.

The women alleged that the three men had made sexually coloured remarks against them during a meeting of MSF office-bearers on June 24. They claimed that before approaching the women's panel, they had reached out to IUML leadership but they received no satisfactory response. The women leaders wanted the three men removed from their posts.

Acting on the complaint by Haritha with the women's panel, the IUML reportedly freezed the Kerala women's outfit of MSF. They later dissolved it on charges of 'grave indiscipline'. The Muslim League party made attempts to work out the matter by asking the two parties to "compromise". They asked Navas and others to apologise for their remarks in exchange of lifting the freeze on Haritha. As per reports, Navas "expressed regret" for the incident but stood by his claim that his words did not imply anything objectionable.
