A Kolkata-based couple allegedly murdered a businessman in a room on the ninth floor of a five-star hotel in Guwahati. The police said that the deceased businessman was the former boyfriend of the woman. As per the reports, the businessman was identified as 42-year-old Sandeep Suresh Kamble and belonged to Pune in Maharashtra. His body was found in the room of the Radisson Blu Hotel in Guwahati with injury marks. Preliminary investigation revealed that Kamble might have been murdered by Kolkata-based couple Rakesh and Anjali Shaw.
The police came to this conclusion after going through the CCTV footage of the hotel, guest lists, and airport passenger manifests. The couple was nabbed at the Guwahati airport as they were planning to flee the city. The police said that the couple came to Guwahati with the sole aim of murdering Kamble.
How intimate pictures led to the murder
The murder is a result of a complex relationship dynamics between Kamble, Anjali and Rakesh. Kamble who was the former boyfriend of Anjali pressured her to marry him. He also had intimate pictures of Anjali using which he was trying to threaten her. On the other hand, Anjali, who already had a boyfriend, told Rakesh about the intimate pictures that Kamble possessed. The couple then devised a plan to confront Kamble and restore the pictures.
25-year-old Anjali Shaw works at a restaurant in Kolkata Airport while Rakesh Shaw works at the Radisson Blu Hotel of Guwahati where the incident happened.
How did the couple execute the plan?
Anjali and Kamble agreed to meet at the Kolkata Airport. However, Kamble redirected her to Guwahati where he had booked a room. Upon receiving this information, Rakesh too booked a separate room in the same hotel. On Monday afternoon, the trio got into an altercation in the hotel room which advanced into a physical fight. Kamble incurred severe injuries and became unconscious. Rakesh and Anjali immediately fled the scene.
However, their flight couldn't reach its destination as the police tracked them down at Guwahati Airport.
