Tired of the nuisance created by drunkards on the streets, a group of women in Mumbai walked on the streets with brooms in hand to beat the drunkards. The incident happened in Mumbai's Lalji Pada, Kandivali. A video of the incident was shared on Instagram which has gone viral. Read on to know more.

As seen in the video, the group of women, clad in ghoongat, holding brooms in hand chased down the drunkards consuming liquor on the streets. The nuisance created by drunkards is not a new problem. On August 25, a 16-year-old boy killed his father for thrashing his mother. The boy has been arrested by the police for murder. The incident happened in the Rohini area of Delhi. The father used to beat his children and wife under the influence of alcohol.

Fed up with such behaviours of the drunkards, women took things into their hands. They marched on the streets and beat every other drunkard they spotted.

The video was shared by Jist.news on Instagram showing a snippet of the women walking on the streets and beating drunkards with brooms. It was captioned as, "In Mumbai's Lalji Pada, Kandivali, a group of housewives took action by confronting and thrashing alcoholics who were openly consuming liquor on the streets, expressing their frustration with the ongoing public nuisance."

The video, shared on August 24, has gained a lot of traction. It has garnered more than one lakh views and more than 8k likes. 

Reaction of the users

Users have appreciated the action of the women in the comment section and have also urged Mumbai Police to look into the nuisance created by drunkards. 

One of the users wrote, "The day every Indian decides they would not tolerate nonsense is the day." Another said, "The reason why we say only women can fix the world."

Yet another user talked about the system and said, "When the system isn't doing its job properly, common people are mostly likely to take the law into their own hands.”

An Instagram user, Pravin Hirani, said, "Clean up your area, good work."
