Mutilated Body Of Woman Found In Mumbai, Rape Suspected: Report

Mumbai woman raped and murdered: A woman's mutilated body was found near a nullah at MTNL junction in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on Tuesday. Some locals noticed a body in a local nullah, following they alerted the police control room. BKC police suspect that the woman, who was in her mid-30s, had been allegedly raped before being murdered. Police also confirmed she was a sex worker.

According to a report in the Times of India, a preliminary medical examination of the deceased woman found that her throat was slit and there were injuries on her private parts. The police have lodged a case under the Indian Penal Code sections for rape and murder. "Prima facie, it is suspected that the woman who is a sex worker may have been killed over some money matter," said a police officer of the BKC police station.

According to police sources, they have accessed the CCTV footage of the entire incident to track down the person involved in the matter. They said they are analysing the clips to identify the accused, who dumped a semi-clad dead body of a woman near a nullah after committing the brutal offence.

The woman's body has been sent for a post-mortem to confirm the cause of death. Meanwhile, police suspect that the accused could either be a jilted lover or a person who could have a financial tussle with the woman. Police have formed teams to nab the accused. The investigation is ongoing and police are probing all the angles in the case.

On May 9, three members of a family in Thane allegedly tried to kill their 27-year-old daughter-in-law by slitting her throat after she filed a police complaint against them for harassment. According to officials, she is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital. The in-laws, their son and daughter have been booked for attempted to murder.
