As Mumbai grapples with heavy rains, the authorities have put the district on yellow alert. The heavy downpours have caused waterlogged streets, halting trains, disruptions in daily activities, and loss of lives. An incident came to light on 19 July, where a four-month-old infant slipped out of a woman's hand while walking on railway tracks, fell into a drain, and was swept away.

The official said that they received a distressed call of a child falling into a drain along the railway track in Thane district. The official also claimed of launching an operation to trace the baby.
