Police raid Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra's home in Juhu, Mumbai in connection to the case of pornography production and distribution the latter is currently accused in.
As per reports on Friday, the crime branch of the Mumbai police reached the celebrity couple's residence with Kundra in custody for the investigation.
The British-Indian businessman has named as the "key conspirator" in the matter concerning the publication of illegal adult content on one Hotshots app. He was arrested on July 19 and has been remanded to police custody till July 27. Follow the case here.
Kundra has reportedly filed a petition in the High Court of Mumbai, claiming his arrest is "illegal."
Police officials earlier this week said they have found no "active role" of Shetty in the pornography production case and that the actor will not be issued a summons.
Police Raid Shilpa Shetty Residence: What We Know So Far
Shetty took to social media July 23 to make her first post after her husband's arrest, sharing an Instagram story with a quote that read: "The place we need to be is right here, right now. Not looking anxiously at what has been or what might be but fully aware of what is."
Kundra was allegedly involved with the porn racket case via links through the Hotshots app, which is at the centre of the controversy. He was head of Armsprime Media Private Limited - the firm behind Hotshots - but claims to have sold the app in 2019 to UK-based company Kenrin.
Investigating officers are probing Kundra's continued role in porn production through his India-based Viaan Industries office.
Police also suspect funds obtained from porn films were being put into online betting by Kundra and others. Read here. The case seems to be at an "international level," police said, noting WhatsApp chats where Kundra allegedly spoke of selling over a hundred films for 1.2 million dollars.
