A young commercial pilot, Srishti Tuli, was found hanging in her rented flat in Mumbai’s Andheri East on November 25. The 26-year-old was reportedly discovered hanging with a data cable in her apartment at Kanakia Rainforest, Marol. The police, after receiving a complaint from her uncle, arrested her 27-year-old boyfriend, Aditya Pandit, on charges of abetment to suicide under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Pilot Found Dead In Mumbai, Boyfriend Arrested For Abetment Of Suicide
According to the FIR, Srishti was last seen alive between midnight and 3 PM on November 25. Pandit, who had been staying with her for nearly a week, left her flat around 1 AM to drive to Delhi. During the drive, Srishti allegedly called Pandit and told him she would take her life.
Alarmed, Pandit returned to Mumbai and sought help from her friend, Urvi Panchal. The two arrived at Srishti’s flat and, after finding no response to their knocks, called a keymaker to open the door. Inside, they found her hanging. She was rushed to Seven Hills Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
No suicide note was found at the scene. The police detained Pandit after Srishti’s uncle, Vivekkumar Tuli, alleged that he had mentally harassed her, instigating her to take this extreme step. Srishti’s family accused Pandit of controlling and abusive behaviour, including forcing her to give up non-vegetarian food, publicly humiliating her, and damaging her car.
Pandit has been remanded to police custody until November 29 as investigations continue.
Who Was Srishti Tuli?
Srishti, originally from Uttar Pradesh, was a promising young pilot who had recently started her career with Air India. She has lived in Mumbai since June 2023 after completing her training in Delhi. During her training, she stayed in Dwarka and formed a close bond with Pandit, whom she met during their pilot training program in Delhi two years ago. Their friendship soon turned into a romantic relationship.
Despite her professional achievements, Srishti’s personal life was reportedly turbulent. Her relatives claimed that Pandit’s behaviour often left her emotionally distressed. He allegedly forced her to miss social gatherings, controlled her dietary choices, and argued with her frequently.
Her uncle, who spoke to her colleagues, revealed that Srishti deeply loved Pandit despite his alleged mistreatment. She reportedly skipped his sister’s engagement due to work commitments, which led to Pandit refusing to speak to her for several days.
Srishti’s death has raised questions about the mental health challenges faced by individuals in toxic relationships.
