Mumbai Municipal Worker Was Slapped By Woman Stopped For Not Wearing Mask

In a video, the woman not wearing a mask is seen inside a rickshaw which was stopped by another woman in a dark blue uniform. The woman that stopped the woman in the rickshaw works with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the civic body in Mumbai. The municipal worker is seen asking the woman to wear a mask, until the woman lunges at the worker and slaps her. After the municipal worker was slapped, she proceeded to grab the lady as the commuter continues to punch and kick the worker.

The incident took place in Mumbai’s Kandivali Road. The woman in the rickshaw was heard shouting “How dare you stop me? How dare you touch me?" The BMC worker told the people gathered around her to not let the woman go.

Maharashtra reported 25,833 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24-hour period before March 18 night. That marks the highest rate of new cases since the outbreak of the pandemic. A person can be fined 200 rupees for not wearing a mask in Mumbai. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had recently warned people that another strict lockdown would take place if safety rules like wearing a mask were ignored.
