This time around she was nabbed in connection with a theft at the house of city-based fashion designer Deepika Ganguly, a resident of Vile Parle.
Gaikwad allegedly told Ganguly that she had lost her documents and would submit them some days later. However within ten days of being hired, she stole cash from Ganguly's home and absconded. An FIR in connection with the case was registered on May 26.
During investigation Gaikwad was identified by the police using CCTV footage and her crime record. Senior inspector Shashikant Pawar of the property cell revealed that she has been arrested over 50 times for theft resulting in several convictions.
Revealing Gaikwad's modus operandi, Pawar said, "She contacts watchmen of all societies and exchanges numbers. Due to COVID-19, many house helps have left for their homes in the village and there is a demand for them." She was arrested from Vikhrole by the Mumbai Police.
